In 'Ballad of Maya' internationally acclaimed composer Ricky Kej collaborates with legendary Sarangi Master Ustad Sultan Khan, in what was one of Ustad’s last recordings. Ustad passed away shortly after his contribution to this epic 'World Music' album. Among the 42 contributing musicians to this album are renown Sitar player Paul Livingstone (USA), Vocalist Pandit Prakash Sontakke (India), Percussionist Karthik K. (Germany), Tabla Player Pandit Bhavani Shankar (India), Bansuri player Praveen Godkhindi (India), Singer Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota (India) and the Cochin Chamber Orchestra (India). Four Years in the making, The Ballad of Maya begins with “Darkness” moving into Dawn – like light rays breaking through the clouds with hope symbolized by the piquant peal of a nylon stringed guitar. The following tracks throughout the album are weaving a fabric of exponential love with the threads of devotion. Most of the music on this album has been recorded live. This record is an adventure for the listener; exotic and masterfully performed and produced it beckons the audience to join the expedition for an experience on another level of Awareness. An experience of the World as illusion or Maya- The Ballad of Maya.
