‘emaho’ is a special word. It’s an exclamation used in ancient Tibetan Buddhist scriptures to describe the ‘wondrous, amazing moment when the mind awakens’. I truly believe that every human being in the world has the innate longing for this feeling of ‘emaho’. It can manifest in various ways. Personally, I find this moment whenever I connect with the most exalted and marvelous female Buddhist goddess Arya Tara. This is why I felt this album should be called ‘emaho – the Story of Arya Tara’.


Many eons ago in ancient India lived a princess called Jhana-Chandra, which means ‘Wisdom-Moon’. In Tibetan her name is translated as ‘Yischi Dawa’. She was beautiful and had a big heart for all beings. Every day she accumulated countless merits and good deeds and was a faithful disciple of her teacher Buddha Dundubhisvara. Everyone admired this extraordinary princess. In order to attain full enlightenment, the monks urged her to wish that she will be reborn as a man in her next life. The princess laughed and replied: ‘There is no male, there is no female. To discriminate between male and female is the mind of a small being. There are neither men nor women, nor a self, nor beings.’ She vowed to return again and again in a female form in order to liberate all beings from suffering and to reach enlightenment in a female form. So, the Buddha Dundubhisvara gave her the name Tara, the ‘Swift Liberator’. She is also often referred to as Arya Tara – The Noble Tara’.


The music of ‘emaho’ will not only give you comfort and positive energy but will also encourage you to uncover your inner beauty, strength and confidence. I am deeply grateful to my dear father, The Venerable Dagsay Rinpoche, for inspiring me to share the beautiful energy of this goddess with you and to Helge van Dyk for composing this unique music to open your hearts for

the exalted goddess Arya Tara.

This special physical release features 2 CDs in a beautiful, case bound, hardcover package, along with a deluxe 28-page booklet including artwork by Tiffany Singh and Ella Brewer. The booklet also includes explanations of the mantras and their benefits written by Venerable Robina Courtin.

 

CD 1 is the standard Inner World album while CD 2 features an exclusive, unreleased disc of album instrumentals, not available anywhere else. We will be shipping all pre-orders on August 28th, and hope you enjoy the more in-depth physical version of this sacred offering.

 

 

Inner World is an offering of the Dalai Lama reciting mantras and giving short teachings all woven to a bed of music for the very first time. Released to honor his 85th birthday celebrations on July 6th, 2020, the album will be a great dedication to the decades of his vision and work for world peace and educating the heart. Including previously released tracks “Compassion” and “One Of My Favorite Prayers”.

When asked why he accepted the request to make the album, the Dalai Lama answered, “The very purpose of my life is to serve as much as I can.” He also added, “Music can help people in a way that I can’t.”

 

Net proceeds from the sales of Inner World will go to The Gaden Phodrang Foundation of the Dalai Lama’s chosen programs: Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning (SEE Learning) and Mind & Life Institute, which brings science & contemplative wisdom together to better understand the mind & create positive change in the world.

The new 2018 album by sound artist Acama is an acoustic sound color journey through Buddhist monasteries that the musician in the Himalayas has visited over the years. While staying in monasteries, Acama was allowed to record numerous authentic sound recordings of ceremonies and pujas. Acama has used these sound-documents in his new compositions, interweaving authentic original recordings of the respective locations energetically and musically closely and subtly with his music. The rhythm of Tibetan puja drums plays an essential role in the music pieces. They specify the speed at which the prayers are recited. Cymbals and bells ring at certain prayer sites and complement the sound of the prayer ceremonies. The interplay of the trance rhythms, with those used by Acama in the melodies Sound frequency images, activates the meditative alpha state when listening. In this similar state you are very relaxed and can go very well and meditate.
